Day 1 - On arrival at the Kotoka International Airport, we drive to Biriwa Beach Hotel near Cape Coast, which is about 145km. On this journey, the vegetation which is mainly coastal savanna enable tourists to see the various coastal hamlets and Ant hills. The beautiful stretches of beaches would also be in sight. The cozy Biriwa Beach Hotel overlooks the Atlantic ocean with a breezy atmosphere and beautiful stretches of sandy beach with plenty of sunshine. Brunch will then be served, after which tourists will retire for siesta. In the evening there will be a cultural welcoming ceremony and orientation by the leader and operator. There will be dinner after. Day 2 - In the Morning, a trip would be made to the Kakum National Park for the viewing of a Tropical Rain Forest and probably see the forest elephants. Different tropical plant species and butterflies will be seen. Tourist will also experience a walk under the canopies of the rain forest (quite thrilling). The first canopy walk in Africa is at the Kakum National Park, from which tourists can see and admire the entire forest from above the trees. Lunch will then be had at the Hans Hotel. At Hans Hotel, tourists would have the priviledge of seeing crocodiles and unique birds whilst taking "red red and kelewele" for lunch.(Red red and kelewele is a local dish made of ripped plantain, beans, mashed fish and vegetables). Tourists then return to the hotel to freshen up. In the cool of the afternoon, a visit would be made to the Cape Coast castle for the castle tour.(The Cape Coast castle played a significant role in the slave trade). After, tourists would return to the Beach hotel for dinner and prepare for their first musical concert, at the auditorium of the University of Cape Coast. Day 3 - Tourists will travel for a distance of about 216km from Cape Coast to Koforidua. Various stopovers would be made at Mankessim, where the over a century old 'Pusuban' shrine is located. You would be taken through some historical Fante war relics and Fante history. The Fantes, are the first Ghanaians to come into contact with the whites (Portuguese in the 15th century). The next stop is the Centre for National Culture (Arts Centre) in Accra, for some Ghanaian artifacts and souvenir. Tourists would also visit the National Museum of Ghana and have lunch at the Terrace Bar. The journey would then continue through the scenic Akwapim Ridge. From the Ridge, various parts of Tema, the industrial city of Ghana can be viewed. 'Peduase' Lodge which served as the Presidential Palace for the Late Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah (Pan Africanist and first president of the Republic of Ghana) is along the Ridge. A stop would be made at the Aburi Botanical Garden for tourists to see drum making demonstrations. Tourists then move on to Koforidua, check in at St. James Hotel. Later, there would be drum and drumming demonstration and interpretation over cocktails and dinner. Day 4 - In the morning, there would be a little bit of integrate tourism. Visits would be made to some villages near Suhum in Eastern Ghana. There would be demonstrations of Cocoa Processing and palmwine tapping. Tourists would meet the village chief for briefings and be entertained with Krobo Dipo Dances. They then travel to Accra for lunch at the Afrikiko Restaurant and later in the afternoon be treated to a second musical concert at the Jesus Generation Church. After the show, tourists would the drive back to St. James for dinner. Day 5 - Tourists would travel a distance of 200km from Koforidua to Kumasi. The journey will enable tourists see ethnic change from the coastal tribes of Ga and Dangbe to the famous Ashanti territories, where vegetation is purely rain forest. A detour would be made to the hometown of the Kwahu, the notable rich traders of Ghana. Courtesy call would be paid to Chief Nana Banfo in his Palace at Asuboni-Mpraeso. Lunch would proceed to Kumasi, the capital of the great Ashanti Kingdom where the King sits on stools made of pure gold. After check in at a hotel, you would be treated to a final musical concert to be held at the Great Hall of the University of Science and Technology. Tourists then retire for the day. Day 6 - In the morning, visit would be made to Bonwire where the famous Ashanti Kente clothes are woven with a traditional loom. Tourists would see weavers at work and admire their skills. The next place of call would be Ntonso to see the 'Adinkra' clothe printers and also to Ahwia where the fertility dolls are carved. These dolls are believed to make women fertile. The Kumasi Cultural Centre and the palace of the Ashanti King (Otumfuo Opoku Ware II) would be visited. Lunch would be had at Adehweman Gardens. Tourists then return to Accra and leave for New York.
